Interested in putting your city on the map? Get a team together to organize an event and registrations currently offline.

Twestival Local events are taking place in cities around the world between 10-13 September 2009. If you would like to attend an event, volunteer or contribute, please find your city for more details. Twestival is an international movement where people meet offline for one night, have fun and do some good for an important cause in the process. Twestival Local gives cities an opportunity to select a local cause to support. UPDATE: new registrations close at Sun 23 Aug, 23.59 PST

The first Twestival Global where we rallied around one cause, took place on 12 February 2009 and raised $250k for charity: water. Watch the videos of the first Twestival well being drilled in Ethiopia.

Twestival is 100% organized by volunteers around the world.

Volunteers are at the heart of what makes Twestival so powerful. There are a variety of opportunities available for people who want to offer their skills to support local events or work with the global team. Whether you have a little or a lot of time to devote, there is a role for you.

The amazing thing about Twestival is the speed and enthusiasm at which people get involved. Twitter has enabled the communication for Twestival to happen by bringing communities together as volunteers, create cause awareness and generally get the word out about the events. It is also valuable to reach out to a wider audience through the media and other channels. Please feel free to download and post a banner on your blog, take the design elements to create something special for your event or include #twestival in your tweet.

Twestival Local puts the spotlight on hundreds of causes around the world.

Twestival Local aims to support not-for-profit organizations through global events on 10-13 September 2009. It is up to each city team to facilitate nominations and the selection process using the Twestival guidelines. If you are interested in finding out how your cause can be considered, please reach out directly to cities via Twitter or look for your city on the map.

The emphasis is on supporting one local cause where volunteers and donors can have a direct and measurable impact. The cause selected is the recipient of the fundraising effort and not the event organizers. Twestival Local encourages volunteers to also think beyond the financial goal and find ways to work with the not-for-profit including social media training, recruitment, or communication strategies.

It is only possible for Twestival to donate 100% of the proceeds from event fundraising efforts thanks to great partnerships established globally and locally.
