Oxford Twestival Social Media Panel is designed as an off-line and virtual event lasting for 2 hours to provide field for discussion on role of social media in development of fundraising activities within the sector of education. On the day of Twestival Global we are going to meet in The Phone Room offices with professionals from social media and non for profit sector. We aim for a rather informal discussion about our experiences and knowledge share to identified those areas of education, fundraising and social media where our expertise meets and where our professions can co-operate to achieve best possible results.
Social media tends to be a new area of interest for more traditional educational organisations, which not always understand the potential of new media channels. Monetising on-line activities leading to successful fundraising activities become a challenge but also an interesting topic to many social media specialists. Equally there is a small scope for studies within the social media tools and mechanisms. We will spend our two hours focussing on those three major questions and hope to come out of it with at least few observations, interdisciplinary insights but most of all understanding of crossovers of those various, however in recent times from many points of views related areas of life.
Using Concern Worldwide as a kick off case study we hope to at least touch on perspectives of each of the panel attendee to conclude with means to incentivise public with ideas for powerful call to action.
Yes, it’s an ambitious goal for 2 hours of discussion, but we hope that with support of our virtual attendees we will be able to put at least few tangible ideas on the table. It’s 3rd Oxford Twestival and we feel that apart from the fun and entertainment we might be able to contribute more to the Twestival community and to general public. We've been quite silent on this channel this time around, but felt we ought to tell you all a bit more on the process of Copenhagen Twestival 2010.
It's the third time we're doing this event, and both Kristoffer and I are very happy to say that we are getting a lot of help now. Big round of applause for @wendelboe, @laurajul, @jacobpackert, @ronnilab and @mortensax for helping out.
We started doing this for fun and gags, but it's turned out to be a bigger and bigger event every time; now I don't know half the people buying tickets, and that's a great sign. It means Twestival is getting bigger than just the regular event attendees of Copenhagen (and more money for our cause).
We started at Republikken, moved to the slightly bigger venue at FDF Rysensteen, and now we've moved to the large foyer of Pumpehuset. This means we'll have room for 300 people with a real scene and a real bar.
The sponsorships also keep growing; first time around we could hardly find anybody who wanted to give 2500,- DKK. Now people are buying sponsorships without even wanting to have their logo on the website - they just like the event and the cause that much. It means a lot to us that companies, people and organizations around Copenhagen and Denmark in general are willing to support us with money, gifts for the lottery and help in every way they can.
The list is long already, but we want to take a moment to thank these sponsors on everything they've done for us so far:

The March 25th tweetup event in Greater Lafayette, IN will now include the Twestival, a global event organized in 200+ cities around the world via social media tools to help a charity.
At this edition the event will sponsor Concern Wordwide, an international charity bringing education to the world’s poorest children. Concern has been implementing innovative educational programs and solutions for over 40 years.

To kick off the evening and set the scene at the Castle, Twestival Farnham will play host to some beautiful acoustic music from a couple of talented local musicians. Ed who plays the guitar, violin and vocals and James, who plays the guitar and provides lead vocals, are from the band The Mislaid Keys (themislaidkeys at hotmail dot com).
With a wide range of influences, the local band is able to offer well known covers as well as original material for all kinds of occasions.
Twestival has proved to be a great opportunity for the local community to all play a part in raising funds for Concern Worldwide. We’re delighted that Ed and James have generously offered to donate their time and talent to provide the evening with some musical entertainment. ..
We are excited to be a part of this huge Twitter event, which is happening simultaneously in over 175 countries around the world!
This event is just a few more days away, happening on the 25th March at the Stone Bridge Galley in Asia City at 5.30pm.
Entrance fees are at RM30, which gets you in to be part of the tweet party and enjoy performances by celebrity recording artistes. We already know the esteemed Roger Wang will be part of the night's repertoire! On top of that, the night is going to be abuzz with lucky draws, auctions, FOOD, tweet ups and this, no doubt, makes a great venue for networking.
Food coupons are available at RM20 at the Twestival, with plenty for 150 people, including 50 halal coupons. Be sure to come early to get your food coupon, but don't worry about going hungry at the event. The Stone Bridge Galley is known to make scrumptious offerings which you can order over the counter! Halal food is catered for in a separate section of the restaurant.
Lucky draw raffles are at RM10 per ticket, with prizes ranging from hotel rooms to hampers worth over RM200, with a total value of a few thousand ringgit! Get your hands on as many raffle tickets as possible to increase your chances of winning!
